The school was established on 24th April 1949 with 329 students. It consited of 7 grades of Primary School and 4 of High School. The first Matura Exams in the school's history took place in 1952 and they were sat by 24 students.
In 1973 (on the 25th anniversary), one of the students designed an official school logo which has been in use up till now. Since 1993 the official school's name has been 10^th Paderewski Lyceum to honour that great pianist, composer and politician.
On 24th April 1999 an exceptional anniversary event drew the attention and presence of the authorities and alumni. The school got a new flag for this special occasion.
Since 1989 the School Principal has been Arkadiusz Mazur.
